Professor Ardeshir Mahdavi is an internationally recognized expert in Building Physics, Building Performance Computing, Building Ecology, and Human Ecology. His academic positions include Professor of Building Physics at Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, USA (from 1990 to 2001), University Professor and Chair, Department of Building Physics and Building Ecology and Director of the Graduate Program in Building Science and Technology of the Technical University of Vienna (from 2001 to 2021), Senior Research Fellow, Institute of Building Physics, Services, and Construction, Faculty of Civil Engineering Sciences, Graz University of Technology (since 2022), Visiting Professor of Building Physics, National University of Singapore (1997, 2000, 2001, 2019). Professor Mahdavi has contributed to research on sustainable building design and operation, building data ontologies, model-predictive building control, urban micro-climate and urban energy modeling, and models of building users’ behavior. Professor Mahdavi has published over 700 scientific papers and has supervised over 65 doctoral students. Professor Mahdavi is a fellow of IBPSA (International Building Performance Simulation Association) and the recipient of the prestigious IBPSA Distinguished Achievements Awards.
